Do a piece in recognition of Canada’s Sesquicentennial expressing your love of life in Canada.

 This piece may not include a facsimile of the Canadian Flag.


Choose a plant that has a special quality about it that inspires you to do a piece that combines art and calligraphy. 

Piece must be 14” x 18” or larger BEFORE framing.


Black Magic - Experiment with different tools and substances which show up well on black papers.

Text should make some reference to Magic.


January February March

Create a piece about a city of your choice. There should be twenty or more words. Lettering and illustration (if included) must be done in black and white plus one colour or gold.


Piece must be 14” x 18” or larger BEFORE framing.

Using a vehicle other than paper (some suggestions might be vinyl, cloth, metal, plastic etc.) do a quote of your choice.

Do a circular piece. Piece must include words or letters.

April May Christmas Cards

Select a recognized artist you admire and do this quotation in the way your artist might do it in his style of art.

Framing Assistance: 

Helpful Hints for Showing Your Work:  Debbie Craig, our Exhibition Coach, will encourage Calligraphers new to showing their work at our Gallerias to show their pieces at our Annual Show.  She will email them and offer to supply frames for them. There is a whole variety of sizes of frames available 8x10,10x12,11x14,12x16,14x18,16x20,18x24, 20x24 and 22x28.
